Maligayang Pasko!

"Mother Mary, lead me to the grotto of Bethlehem, so that I may contemplate the great and sublime event that took place in the silence of the most beautiful night the world has ever seen."
- Padre Pio

Note: The picture above is a Live Nativity Scene from Last Night's Misa de Aguinaldo (Christmas Eve Mass), it is a part of the 'Panunuluyan' or dramatization of the birth of Jesus before the Mass.

Fourth Sunday of Advent

Luke 1:39-45
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting,
the infant leaped in her womb,
and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit,
cried out in a loud voice and said,
“Blessed are you among women,
and blessed is the fruit of your womb.

Padre Pio and the Infant Jesus

A photo of Padre Pio holding a small statue of the Infant Jesus at the Christmas Midnight Mass in San Giovanni Rotondo. Padre Pio said, "For the feast of the Infant Jesus, my wish for you is that your heart may be His cradle adorned with flowers where He can rest without the slightest discomfort."

Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose, make intercession for the Holy Church, protect the Sovereign Pontiff, help all those who invoke thee in their necessities, and since thou art the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of God, obtain for us from thy most holy Son the grace of keeping our faith, sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life, burning charity and the precious gift of final perseverance. 2nd Sunday of Advent Gospel Reflection

John the Baptist heralded the Good News, and pointed the people in the right direction. Paul constantly sought to keep the early church on the right track. We need people like John and Paul to keep us focused on the things that truly matter—all of creation living in the love of God.
Luke 3:1-6

Advent Prayer

Father, in the wilderness of the Jordan
you sent a messenger to prepare people's hearts
for the coming of your Son.
Help me to hear his words and repent of my sins,
so that I may clearly see the way to walk,
the truth to speak, and the life to live for Him,
our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

The Lay Eucharistic Minister

My late father Augusto used to be a Special Minister of the Eucharist before he had alzheimer's disease. Today, I was inspired when I saw during the Holy Mass one of his colleagues Bro Clem San Agustin; he was older than my Tatay but seeing him distributing Holy Communion uplifts my spirit and it reminds me of my Tatay.

At the age of 80+ Bro Clem is still very much active in his ministry and I was even amazed that he can still genuflect at his age! I had to admit that I prefer to bow rather genuflect, I ought to be ashamed of myself!

I know other Lay Eucharistic Ministers who are even younger but complains that they have arthritis that's they can't genuflect and they keep using that lame excuse so they won't be assigned to give Viaticum and are choosy about their mass schedules! Shame on them!

During the Holy Mass, I didn't ask anything for myself. I prayed that God will give Bro. Clem long life and that he will stay healthy so he can continue to serve the Lord and also that the church will have other Lay Eucharistic Ministers like him.

To Bro Clem, may your tribe increase! :)

Prayers for the Dead

Merciful Father,
hear our prayer and console us.
As we renew our faith in Your Son,
whom You raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen

In Memory of Nanay and Tatay

On Nov 1st we visited my Nanay and Tatay's grave (Nanay and Tatay means mommy and daddy or mama and papa) in Marilao, Bulacan. We also paid a visit to my Grandfather and Auntie Dalia's grave.

My Nanay passed away on Oct 16, 2008 yet I still miss her terribly, while Tatay passed away only last March 21, 2012 and I still have to convince myself at certain times that he is gone. What I am now, I owe it to them. They took good care of me and my siblings, they gave us good education, give us food, clothing shelter, healthcare and most all they taught  us to be God fearing persons.

As we remember our departed loved ones let us not forget to say a short prayer not only form them but also for the other souls in purgatory even though we don't know them personally.

Just a short prayer for them:  Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord and may Your perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.
